            Just imagine that if you can read your partner’s mind on your first date, imagine that if you can answer according to your interviewer’s thoughts and get your dream job. Sound looks great ah? Yeah, everything will be super easy for you to handle. Did you ever believe that mind reading would be possible? Whether you believe it or not mind reading technology would be used in our day-to-day life soon, Elon Musk, Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg and some other social media companies are experimenting with bringing this technology into social media and providing their users a fantastic experience.  What is a mind-reading device?

            The mind-reading device acts similar to a mouse or a keyboard and takes the mental state of a person as input. It is specially made for this purpose. Mind-reading devices detect the facial expressions of a person and interpret what they feel. By comparing the facial expressions of one with his behavior mind-reading device conclude his mental state. It involves considering a person’s head movements. When a person smiles and raises his eyebrows, his movements, shape, and color changes are monitored and a mind reading device identifies the mental state of that person. 

The technology behind this?

             Brain chips and futuristic heads are used here. A method called  Spectroscopy is practiced in the futuristic heads and the blood level and the oxygen level of the brain are measured. Brain chips are processors which are connected to the neurocomputer. Neural engineering and biomimetic microelectronic system knowledge are used in brain chips. A brain chip is inserted into a person’s brain and controls his thoughts and movements.

The mind reading system consists of four parts. They are,

Intentionality Detector(ID)-  This component is used to detect the intentions of others related to their goals and desires.

Eye Direction Detector(EDD)- It detects and analyzes the information about stimuli.

Shared Attention Mechanism(SAM)- It connects the ID and EDD.

Theory of Mind Mechanism(ToMM)- Involves the everyday tasks of humans.

However, there is a huge technology behind the mind-reading technology which is still developing.

Let’s get into its applications.

            As mentioned above there are so many applications that this technology can be used. This technology can be used for paralyzed people and for those who are in a coma. The mind reading system will read what those people feel and let them know to others. As they can not speak and move it will be really helpful for them to express their needs and feelings. It will bring them back to normalcy. It converts thoughts into speeches.

            Another field that the mind-reading technology that can be used is the bank field. Bankers can analyze their clients and when they loan they can use this technology to identify the people that are going to be bankrupt and who are unable to return the money. From that, they can avoid loaning such clients.

            Imagine that if the judger can identify the truth of the witness’s statement presented in the court. Then every victim will be punished for their accusation. Then the judgment would be more accurate as currently, the major issue there is when witness presents their statement they never confess the real story. 

            The police could prevent any act of inhumanity and any crime which is going to happen by reading the minds of terrorists and culprits. They can avoid them and they can protect normal people from crimes. 

            As I mentioned above, this mind-reading technology would be more beneficial in the industrial and business worlds. Both interviewer and interviewee can take the advantage of this. The interviewer can identify if the people who are interviewing would be loyal to the company or not. He can choose the best employees for the company. On the other side, the interviewee can identify the nature of the interviewer, and he can impress the interviewer by giving the best answers. When investing, the investor can get to know that the person with who he is going to invest can be trusted with his money.

Teachers can use this technology in colleges to identify the student's mental states. Most importantly we can protect our close ones from committing suicide. We can get to know if our close ones are suffering from any kind of heartbreak. We can talk to them and we can avoid their next step which is committing suicide. 

            The men could avoid conflicts in the home that the missing part for them for years was unable to understand their wives. Getting to know the feelings of your wife or girlfriend is also would be easier soon.

            Though there are many advantages of mind-reading technology there are some disadvantages as well. “Nothing is more private than thoughts” But that privacy is no longer sacrosanct.

People could be emotionally damaged by uncovering their private thoughts to the world. Any invention would not be great if people use it carelessly and with vile intentions. So the theory applies to mind-reading technology as well.

            Terrorists can attack their enemy countries in a more organized way by uncovering their secret information. Thieves can rob banks more easily. But this technology can not be used with 100% accuracy. That is because the human brain is super complex. But the accuracy level can be increased to up to 86.4%.

 

            Future aspects of this technology are to apply the technology in the automobile industry and the online shopping industry. Applying mind reading technology to the automobile industry may reduce accidents by the system would get to know if the driver is fit to drive or not. It would identify the mental state of the driver. In the online shopping industry, the system may identify the desires of the clients and those companies may provide an excellent service.
